Exporting quality vanilla from Papua New Guinea

Vanilla grown in Papua New Guinea is of very high quality in taste and aroma. PNG vanilla can be classified organic as no chemicals are used in its cultivation.

Waima Vanillas Limited is a locally owned company based at Waima Village, a major vanilla growing district in the Central Province of Papua New Guinea. The climate and soil in the Waima Village area is perfect for the growth of Vanilla pompana although other varieties are also grown.

Waima Vanillas Ltd purchases dried vanilla pods directly from local farmers and facilitates the processing, packing and exporting of beans directly from the growing district to the overseas buyer – no middle man.

Waima Vanillas is in regular contact with the PNG National Agriculture Research Institute and National Quarantine Service to ensure that all technical and quality standards set by the PNG Government - and expected by our overseas buyers - are met.

The growth and export of vanilla has resulted in major improvements in the living standards of village people in the Waima area. By eliminating the expensive middle man, Waima Vanillas has been able to pay consistently higher prices to our local growers, and keep our export prices well under those of our competitors. Everybody’s happy J.
